Halloween is a wonderful time for all, but for dolls houses it is the time you can get creative and enjoy all that stuff people say your too old to do teehehehe!
Here are a few ideas to get you started, if you have any of your own you would like to share we would love to hear from you.
Halloween Cards
Everyone loves spooky cards and having some to send to your dolls house friends or simply to add to your own decorations couldn't be easier.
Full sized cards vary is size so much that you dont have to worry about getting the size perfect, as long as they are small enough to sit on a shelf or fireplace anything will do.
Ours we have made approx 1.5cm x 2cm (1/2"x 3/4")
Cut a Piece of card or paper about 1"x 3/4" (3cm x 2cm) and fold in half.
Cut out some halloween shapes (we have given some patterns at the bottom of the page) or use some bought in ones.
We have stuck ours in place using double sided foam to make them stand away from the card but sticking them directly to the card will do just as well.
I'm sure you can think of more wonderful designs yourself, they are so small you can play all day and not have to worry about making a mistake as waste is minimal.
Halloween Banners
Halloween banners will really set off your display and are very easy to do.
Cut a piece of ribbon, rope or elastic to the required length (it depends on where it is going in your house)
Cut out some Halloween shapes from card or paper (we have given some patterns at the bottom of the page) and stick into place on the string.
See told you it couldnt be easier hehe!
Perfect Pumpkins
These wonderful pumpkins have been made from fimo. (For those of you not familiar with fimo it is one of the most versatile and essential of all craft materials when filling a dolls house. It is very easy to use and you can get a huge amount of items from just one block.)
We have used a marble for the inside of the larger pumpkin as this saves a great deal of fimo and gives a nice solid base, and a large bead for the inside of the smaller one.
Roll out some orange fimo, nice and thin but not thin enough to split when you pick it up.
wrap it around the marble and squeeze the excess to the top, cut off the excess and roll the covered marble in your hands to make it nice and smooth.
Mark a dimple in the top of the pumpkin with anything, its just a point to work from.
Run a flat edged tool or knife from the dimple to the bottom of the pumpkin
turn it around and make another line, you should start to see the pumpkin form starting to take shape. Keep going until you have the lines all the way round.
Roll out a long thin sausage from green fimo, this is going to form the stalk.
It needs to be thinner at one end and the fat end needs to be flat
place the stalk on the top dimple and gentle wiggle into place, it should stand up on its own. Slightly bend it until you think it looks right.
Now cut out a leaf from the green and score a line in the centre and smaller lines at an angle from it. Place this against the stalk and gently touch the underside to make it stick to the stalk, again you can give the leaf a little bend until it looks right to you.
Roll out some black fimo as thin as you can get it and cut 2 triangles for the eyes.
Roll a very thin sausage and put in place for a smiling mouth and push until flat.
Using anything with a v point drag small points from the black to form the teeth, again this is entirely up to you, however you think it should look is right.
Your pumpkin is now ready for cooking, use the manufacturers guidlines for cooking times, remember that because you have made it over a marble the fimo is much thinner than if you simply rolled a ball and will need less cooking time.
